Welcome to Aquarium Drinking! If this is your first time reading it I should tell you that, though it may seem like one from this first page, it is not a gag-a-day webcomic. When I set out to write this story my goal was to make a gag-a-day/ long form Graphic novel hybrid. Because I am releasing it one page at a time on the internet, as I create it, I want every page to end in a definite. I don’t want the reader that comes back every week to feel like they just witnessed half a thought. Not only do I want the story to flow well as a whole, I want every page to stand on it’s own.
This page was first posted on December 20th 2009. I am writing this message on October 8th 2010, over a year since I finished work on this page. Since then it has seen it’s fair share of revisions though it is still the product of the very first scan of the very first attempt I have ever made at drawing a sequential image. In fact it had been over a decade since I had picked up a pencil with the intention of drawing.
I just remembered that after I screwed up a little when inking the page and used White Out to correct the mistake, not realizing that all the minor errors can be seamlessly wiped away digitally, that is how green I was.
Like I said before, I’ve come back to this page to write this introduction. Originally, for the first 40 odd pages I did not write a blog to accompany every page. I later started writing meandering, eponymous blogs that are wholly unrelated to the page that was posted that week in hopes of inspiring the readers to comment more often. I wanted to encourage an open line of dialogue. Spoiler alert: it didn’t work, I have a very quiet audience.
