WORLDS BEYOND
“Worlds Beyond”, a science fiction anthology featuring my short story “Prisoner of War” is now available for pre-order.
“Prisoner of War” is set in the distant future and centers around Ben Valcour, a humble farmer and leader to a community of societal outcasts who becomes a war hero in a fight against an alien race on a planet light-years from our own.
On the surface a story like this may seem like a vast departure from a comedic drama like “Aquarium Drinking”, and though I did have to stretch my comfort zone when writing the straight Science Fiction elements of the story, “Prisoner of War” is, at it’s heart, a war drama that happens to be science fiction. The story is less concerned with the more fantastical elements of science fiction and more focused on the human condition, the same primary topic that I deal with in “Aquarium Drinking”.
My story also features an amazing title page drawn by the incomparable Hector Rodriguez. Here’s a version of the title page that I added text to:
Worlds beyond is over 300 pages long and features 12 short stories. “Prisoner of War” is a whopping 45 pages long (that’s like 17% of the book, I could be wrong about that percentage, math was never my strong suit). If you like “Aquarium Drinking” or Science Fiction in general you’re going to like “World Beyond”.
